God's Special Day

Oh, Lord my heart is heavy
As I come to you in prayer
What's happened to your children
For it seems that they don't care

Many say they love you, Lord
And they always will serve you
Yet they desecrate Your Sabbath
To do what they would like to do

Some say keeping of the Sabbath day
Is no longer for us today
They say its just for Jews to keep
So they continue their own way

Help them to remember, Lord
That you gave a day of rest
At the beginning of creation
The seventh day you thought was best

You blessed this day and sanctified it
Because your work you did complete
You set this day aside for rest
Instead of work we must retreat

You clearly said to us remember
To keep holy the Sabbath day
To change Your holy Sabbath
Is not what You did say

You gave the seventh day for Sabbath
But Lord, the first is what they keep
How your heart must truly grieve
Many tears you surely weep

Why is it so hard for some
To obey your great commands
How can they say they love you
When they choose to obey man

They justify themselves
Legalism is what they say
That's what keeping your commandments are
That is certainly not God's way

Lord, please help them understand
How blessed that they can be
If only they would see the truth
Oh, Lord please help them see

That Jesus never did away
With any part of Your Word
He taught instead obedience
To not obey is just absurd

Jesus said in the book of John
That if you love him so
You will keep His commandments
And then your love He'll truly know

So to those of you who say
That your love for Christ is true
Then keeping His commandments
Is what you have to do

And if your heart is real for Him
The desire of your heart will be
To show Him that your love is real
Obedience is the key
