Our God is truly a great big God!

I'd like to share with you a praise report on giving.

My husband, and I live in St. Augustine, Florida. We have two children-a teenager and a preschooler. We have been going through some very tough financial times these past few months. He is a Financial/Insurance Representative, and I was working at home providing child-care for 2 young children. Several months ago his company changed his pay status from company financing to straight commissions. He was doing very well for a while until his business slowed down and suddenly stopped. Nothing written means no commission. No commission means no pay! The parents of the 2 children I was caring for decided to put them into a day-care facility so the little boy would get used to being there before school started in the fall. We've not had a paycheck since May. We were only able to pay a small portion of our rent last month and the cupboards were getting quite bare. That was bad enough and then, when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did! Our car died!

This was a slap in the face as we only have one vehicle and my husband needs it for work everyday. What's more, family was visiting us from New York. It was especially difficult to tell them that we were literally broke (and I mean literally - our checking account had $1.25 in it!). All we could tell them is that God will provide for us. We stood on that word. Of course, our visiting family thought we were nuts!

But God is an awesome God. Last Wednesday I found a dollar in my purse. I thought I was rich! I tucked that dollar away and went to church service that evening. Our Pastor taught on Seed Sowing, Tithing, and Offerings. When it came time for the offering to be taken God reminded me of the dollar He gave me, so I gave that dollar back to Him.

Before I could leave church that night, He blessed me 100 fold on that dollar! Waiting for me on the Welcome Station at our church was an envelope with my name on it. I opened the envelope to find a card with $100 enclosed from a "friend". The message inside the card said, "God loves you very much and He wants you to read Ecclesiastes 5." Before my husband could leave the church that night he was blessed a 100 fold on that dollar! A gentleman from church approached him and handed him $100 saying, "Get your car fixed." Just when I thought God had done enough (my God is MORE than enough!!!), He again blessed me the next day on that dollar -- a 2,000-fold return! A woman from our church was ironing when she clearly saw my face. She told me that God told her she needed to give me $2,000. She stopped by my house with an envelope of cash and told me that she has never done anything like that before, but she knew God told her I needed it. She was being obedient.

It is amazing what God can do with just a dollar! He paid the balance of my rent; He fixed my car (PRAISE GOD! It was only a battery problem), He paid my car payment, He paid my lights, my phone, my water, my internet connection (thus enabling me to share this testimony to HIS glory), and He put food in my cabinets ALL WITH ONE DOLLAR!!!

I pray that this testimony is encouraging to someone. I realize that when we are in a desperate situation it's so hard to see through the storm. All I can tell you is that you must trust in Him. Give Him that dollar and watch what He will do! "Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy." (Psalm 126:5) He is our Jehovah-Jireh, our Provider and He will provide for your every need! Yes! He is a Great Big God!!!
